Food for Glowing Skin
Hello Everyone and Happy Tuesday Evening!
Today I wanted to take some time to talk about what types of food to eat for glowing skin.
I love experimenting makeup because it is so much fun, but when it comes to skincare I am very serious and regimented. Your makeup will look its best when your skin looks its best. There are several skincare items out there on the market that will cost your wallet a little heartache, but there are cheap alternatives to make skin glow and that's food!
Cucumbers are one of my favorite foods to consume for many reasons. Cucumbers have a lot of water included--the composition of a cucumber is 95% water, which makes it a great addition to any diet. Aside of the great water benefit cucumbers also have anti-inflammatory properties aka they help you get rid of that unwanted bloat. Cucumbers help de bloat on the inside and outside. Pop a cucumber mask if you feel your face is feeling puffy. You can even take some cucumbers and pop them on your eyes spa style if you have puffy eyes.
Green leaf vegetables are going to be your best friends if you want glowing skin. Leafy greens include vitamin K along with other vitamins A, C, and E. Greens help give your skin sun protection, help flush out toxins, and help in DNA repair. One of the biggest benefits of eating greens is that they help to build folate, you can read more about it here. Personally there are two beverages during the day that I drink that are green that really help my skin glow. The first one is Macro Greens, I have a review of it here, and the second is Suja by Uber Greens. Both drink include vegetables including cucumber, celery, spinach, kale, green chard, and green leaf lettuce. I notice a huge difference if I stop drinking it for a few days. My skin loses its shine and starts to look dull. As a bonus benefit these greens also help hair and nails grow!
Berries are great for achieving that skin glow! Many of them hold anti aging properties and help to tighten the skin. The biggest benefit of berries is that they contain Vitamin C, which is extremely important for skin health. Vitamin C helps to increase collagen (makes us look young), helps us against skin damage from UV rays, and helps reduce discoloration. Read more about the benefits of vitamin C here. While most berries are great for skin, the Acai berry holds immense benefits including serious anti aging properties and plenty other skin nutrients. Blueberries are excellent as they too include a lot of anti aging properties. Strawberries are also good for those suffering from acne, you can read more about the benefits of berries here.
One of the best foods to keep the skin well moisturized is Salmon. Packed with omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D Salmon is a great health food. It is also another food that helps to includes anti inflammatory properties. Salmon is rich in many things including B12 and iron, which leads to hair growth! It is great for skin beacause not only does it help make the skin look more moisturized, but it also helps with fine lines, freckles, and dark spots as it helps produce collagen, keratin, and melanin. You can read more about it here.
Okay okay this is not something you can eat, but just a reminder that the number one thing to get glowing skin is water! The number one trick to get your skin glowing is drinking a lot of water. As we age drinking water helps to keep wrinkles at bay as it helps to plump the skin. The great thing about water is that it helps to flush out all of the unwanted toxins from your skin to help your skin appear clear. You can read more about the benefits of water here. If you find it hard to drink water I suggest that you find different ways to incorporate water into your daily routine. One way is by drinking herbal teas, you can read my post about it here for more detail. Another tip is to set a reminder on your phone to drink a glass once every hour, see whatever works for you!
Thanks for reading, I hope this has been helpful and hope to see you again!
